According to recent data from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from the United States, an estimated
6.4 million children between the ages of four and seventeen have been diagnosed
with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Some people think that
ADHD may be established by conventional medicine, but the symptoms of
attention-deficit and hyperactivity are real for those individuals who often
seek professional treatments because it affects their daily lives.
During my pediatric counseling
practice in the past many years, I have noticed that many children who were
diagnosed with ADHD are actually very creative from their genetic makeups; I
speculate that their creative energy may not be directed properly during the
formal education from our current schooling system, which can contribute to
their ADHD symptoms. It makes me wonder maybe these children should receive
special education to help channel their creative energy more effectively, they
can be brilliant artists or excel in other creative works that help harmonize
both spheres of the brain and reduce ADHD symptoms.
There are other ways that can help calm ADHD naturally and
effectively, maybe we should
explore the root cause of ADHD before dumping more drugs on children to
suppress the symptoms.
