Dear friends,
On November 24, the Moon rises full in Taurus, its sign
of exaltation, inside Krittika, the nakshatra of the sacred flame. It is a
night of deep nourishment and clear-eyed purification at once: the Moon wants
comfort, while Krittika wants truth.
This full moon arrives just after Mercury and Venus turn
direct, and alongside a fiery gathering of Mars, Jupiter and Ketu in Leo. Think
of it as a hearth fire: warmth to restore you, and heat to burn away what you
have outgrown.

Taurus
and Krittika: Earth Meets Fire
This full moon blends two very different energies: the
steady, fertile earth of Taurus and the sharp, purifying fire of Krittika.
The Moon in Taurus. In
Jyotish, the Moon is exalted in Taurus, the Venus-ruled sign of beauty, comfort,
and the senses. Here the mind settles, and the heart craves nourishment and
security. It is one of the most emotionally grounding placements of the year.
Krittika Nakshatra. The
Sun rules Krittika, and Agni, the god of fire, presides over it. Its symbol is
a blade, the tool that cuts cleanly. Krittika is also linked to the six
Pleiades sisters, the nurturing mothers who raised the warrior Kartikeya. So
this nakshatra both protects and purifies: it feeds what is true and cuts away
what is not.
The Sun–Moon axis. The
Sun in Scorpio, a sign of depth and transformation, faces the Moon in Taurus, a
sign of the body, values, and stability. Together they ask:
What do I truly value, and
what am I ready to release?
Themes to work with:
•
Purification — clearing old habits, clutter, and emotional residue
•
Courageous
honesty — speaking clearly and kindly,
the Krittika way
•
Nourishment — tending your body as the temple that carries your spirit
•
Inner fire — rekindling motivation, discipline and digestive strength

The
Planetary Alignment
Mercury and Venus Turn Direct (around
November 13–14)
After weeks of retrograde review, both Mercury, now in
Libra, and Venus resume forward motion within a day of each other. The
sluggish, backward-looking energy begins to lift. Conversations, agreements,
relationships, and finances that felt stuck can start moving again.
By the full moon, we are still in the "shadow"
period, so the shift is real but gentle. It is an excellent time to finalize
what you reviewed during the retrograde, rather than to start something
entirely new on impulse. With Mercury in Libra, fairness and balanced
communication are the keys to repairing relationships.
Mars Joins Jupiter and Ketu in Leo
(mid-November)
This is the most intense configuration of the month. Mars
and Jupiter together form Guru-Mangal Yoga, a combination associated with
courage, leadership, conviction, and purposeful action. Leo, ruled by the Sun,
amplifies the desire to shine, create and lead.
Ketu changes the flavor. Ketu brings detachment, sudden
turns and spiritual awakening. With Mars beside it, the energy can feel
restless, fiery or unpredictable. Expect tests of ego and pride, and moments
when old ambitions suddenly feel empty while a deeper calling becomes clear.
Leo also sits in a tense angle to the Taurus Moon. You
may feel a tug-of-war between comfort and ambition, rest and action. The wisdom
of this full moon is to let Taurus steady you while Leo inspires you.

Health
and Healing Guidance
In medical astrology, Taurus governs the throat, neck,
thyroid and voice. Krittika's fire relates to Agni, our digestive and metabolic
fire. The Leo trio of Mars, Jupiter and Ketu highlights the heart, spine and
circulation, along with heat and inflammation. In late November we also enter
the cold, damp season that Traditional Chinese Medicine associates with the
Water element and the Kidneys.
Put together, this full moon invites us to warm and
steady digestion, protect the throat, cool excess fire, and conserve deep
energy for winter.
1. Kindle Agni gently
•
Favor warm, cooked
meals: soups, stews, congee and kitchari over cold, raw foods.
•
Use warming
digestive spices such as ginger, cumin, fennel and coriander. Studies suggest
ginger may support healthy digestion.
•
Eat your largest
meal at midday, when digestive fire is strongest, and keep dinner light and
early.
2. Soothe the Taurus throat and thyroid
•
Sip warm water or
herbal teas through the day; try honey with ginger, or licorice root tea.
•
Include
selenium-rich foods such as one or two Brazil nuts, eggs, and sunflower seeds,
which may support thyroid health.
•
Sea vegetables
provide iodine; enjoy them in moderation, and check with your practitioner
first if you have a thyroid condition.
•
Humming, chanting
and singing gently stimulate the throat and calm the nervous system.
3. Cool the Leo fire
•
Support heart and
circulation with anti-inflammatory foods: leafy greens, berries, beets and wild
BC salmon rich in omega-3s.
•
Turmeric with a
pinch of black pepper may help support a healthy inflammatory response.
•
Avoid over-training
or pushing through exhaustion. Mars and Ketu can make us feel invincible, then
suddenly depleted.
•
Calming herbs such
as hawthorn, rose and tulsi may support the heart and emotional balance.
4. Nourish the Kidneys for winter (TCM)
•
Bring in
"black" and deeply nourishing foods: black beans, black sesame,
walnuts, seaweed and bone broth.
•
Go to bed a little
earlier. Winter is the season to store energy, not spend it.
•
Keep your lower back
and feet warm, especially on damp coastal days.

Krittika Flame Ritual
1.
Clean your space
and light a candle or diya, honouring Agni, the sacred fire.
2.
Sit quietly and gaze
softly at the flame for a few minutes, then close your eyes and hold its image
within.
3.
On one piece of
paper, write what you are ready to release. Safely burn it in a fireproof bowl,
or tear it up and return it to the earth.
4.
On a second
piece, write what you wish to nourish. Keep it on your altar until the next new
moon.
5.
If the sky is
clear, step outside and take in the moonlight for a few minutes of quiet
connection with nature.

my body this winter as a sacred vessel?
Closing
Blessing
The exalted Moon reminds us that we heal best when we
feel safe, fed, and at home in our bodies. Krittika reminds us that real
healing also asks for honesty and the courage to let go. May this full moon
bring you warmth, clarity and a deeper connection to your inner light.
With
love and light,
Lucy
