A new Approach to Addictions ❤️

Have you heard about ibogaine? Ibogaine is an indole alkaloid compound found in iboga, a shrub in West Africa. It is found in the roots of the iboga plant. Ibogaine has been used in spiritual rituals for centuries, especially in healing ceremonies and shamanistic rituals in the Bwiti religion in West Africa. People who ingest iboga report powerful visions and spiritual experiences. Evidence of this practice dates back to at least the 18th century, but has likely been around for much longer.

Ibogaine is currently under consideration as an addiction treatment for people with opioid addiction and alcohol addiction. It’s also under consideration as a treatment for various mental health disorders, including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Some research suggests that ibogaine changes addiction-related pathways between nerve cells in the brain. It may also affect signaling in brain regions that play a role in the behavioral effects of addictive drugs.

According to a story in Time Magazine, the first documented knowledge of the potential value of ibogaine for addiction treatment was around 1962 when a group of informal researchers discovered that ibogaine eliminated withdrawal symptoms and reduced heroin cravings and desire to use heroin for at least six months. In small doses, ibogaine functions as a mild stimulant. Larger doses can lead to hallucinations and a deep psychedelic experience. Stanford Medicine researchers have discovered that ibogaine, when combined with magnesium to protect the heart, can safely and effectively reduce PTSD, anxiety, and depression and improve functioning in veterans with TBI. Some research suggests that ibogaine may alter addiction-related pathways between nerve cells in the brain and impact signaling in regions associated with the behavioral effects of addictive drugs.

Ibogaine interacts with multiple neurotransmitter systems in the brain. It affects the dopamine and serotonin systems, which are both involved in reward processing and mood regulation. Ibogaine can reduce the intense feelings of cravings and compulsion that are common during addiction treatment. Some people reported experiencing long-lasting changes in behavior and thought patterns after ibogaine treatment. Ibogaine allows the individual to reprocess traumatic memories and create deep and meaningful visions of spiritual transformation. During the treatment, many individuals report having deep, introspective experiences that allow them to reprocess past trauma, understand the root causes of their addictions, and gain spiritual insight into their emotional and mental health. This helps them identify the emotional pain or psychological factors that contribute to their substance use. By understanding and processing these deep-rooted causes, individuals may prevent relapse in the future.

Ibogaine also shows promising outcomes in opioid addiction treatment, such as heroin, morphine, and painkillers. One of the major challenges in opioid addiction treatment is dealing with withdrawal symptoms. Ibogaine has been shown to reduce the symptoms of opioid withdrawal, which can be severe sometimes. Observational studies have concluded that since ibogaine is a stimulant, it can speed the heart rate enough to cause cardiac arrest. Adverse events associated with cardiac issues, including two documented deaths during ibogaine treatment, indicate that a thorough medical screening process must be performed before the treatment with ibogaine, and treatment should be delivered in a medical setting with effective safety standards. Medical researchers have discovered that when combined with magnesium, ibogaine can be used to reduce PTSD, anxiety, and depression safely and effectively, while protecting the heart.

In summary:

Ibogaine – A Natural Remedy for Mental Health

·       Treats addictions and reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms from substance abuse.

·       Resets the brain’s neurochemistry and addresses emotional issues to reduce relapses.

·       Treats opioid addiction and reduces symptoms of opioid withdrawal.

·       Reduces the symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

·       It has been used in religious ceremonies to gain spiritual enlightenment for centuries.

How to Boost Your Thyroid Function Naturally Part Two

The thyroid gland regulates the metabolism of every single cell of your body, from your digestion to your heartbeat. This is why it is so important to optimize your thyroid function. The TSH test alone won't provide the complete picture. Additionally, the TSH is not secreted in your thyroid gland; it is produced by your pituitary gland. This is getting very interesting.

First and must is your diet. A gluten-free diet is often associated with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and celiac disease. Some studies suggest a gluten-free diet may help reduce thyroid antibody levels (anti-TPO and anti-Tg) in people with Hashimoto's. These studies indicate a positive effect of gluten deprivation on thyroid function and its inflammation. Therefore, avoiding gluten in the diet may help alleviate some symptoms of Hashimoto's.

Let’s talk about natural remedies to support thyroid function. Have you heard about bugleweed? In traditional herbal medicine, the leaves and stems of the bugleweed plant have been used to treat thyroid imbalances, reduce inflammation, and support respiratory health. It can inhibit elevated thyroid-stimulating hormones (TSH) and balance thyroid hormone levels. Bugleweed contains flavonoids and phenolic acids, which act as natural thyroid inhibitors. These compounds can help treat mild hyperthyroidism and manage symptoms of an overactive thyroid, such as rapid heart rate and anxiety. This calming effect may also support those with Graves' disease by acting against antibodies that cause Graves’ disease.

Bugleweed also seems to enhance the body’s ability to effectively use iodine. It has been shown to help reduce the symptoms of mild hyperthyroidism.  It is effective like beta-blockers for protecting the heart from the damage of hyperthyroidism. Studies have indicated that bugleweed and lemon balm may block or decrease thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and reduce T3 and T4 hormone levels, which reduces the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

Bugleweed’s antispasmodic and expectorant properties help relax bronchial muscles and reduce inflammation, which helps relieve asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. By improving airflow and clearing excess mucus from the respiratory tract, bugleweed helps relieve nasal congestion, coughing, and shortness of breath. Bugleweed has antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial properties that have been used in traditional medicine for centuries to fight infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs) and respiratory illnesses.

Bugleweed also helps relieve pain and improve mobility in those with joint pain and arthritis due to its high content of flavonoids and tannins, which inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines that contribute to chronic inflammation.

Bugleweed also helps relieve insomnia and sleep disturbances due to its calming effect. It promotes relaxation without the risk of dependency or side effects of sleep drugs.

A sluggish thyroid function can not only affect your weight but also your energy levels and metabolism. Apart from metabolism, thyroid hormones affect breathing, the nervous system, heart function, body temperature, etc. Untreated hypothyroidism can contribute to hypertension, dyslipidemia, infertility, cognitive impairment, and neuromuscular dysfunction. Let's shed some light on how to boost your thyroid function from ancient Ayurvedic medicine. To learn more, please check my recent video.

I hope you enjoy the information.

Let's Dive Into the Wonder of Banaba Leaf! ❤️

Today, many people are experiencing insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels, and weight struggles. Let's talk about Banaba leaf. Keep in mind, it is NOT the banana leaf.

Banaba leaves, derived from the Lagerstroemia speciosa tree native to Southeast Asia, have been used for centuries in traditional medicine. One of the most notable benefits of Banaba leaves is their ability to regulate blood sugar levels. This is primarily due to the presence of corosolic acid, a compound that mimics insulin by facilitating the movement of glucose from the bloodstream into cells. Corosolic acid lowers blood sugar levels by increasing insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose uptake, and inhibiting alpha-glucosidase, which is an enzyme that helps digest carbs. Corosolic acid prevents the body from making glucose for energy from non-carbohydrates, which opposes gluconeogenesis. That’s why it’s claimed to have an insulin-like effect.

Banaba leaf extract contains gallotannins, which are a subclass of tannic acid. Tannic acid inhibits the production of endothelin-1, a protein that is heavily involved in heart disease. In several clinical trials, banana leaf extract is linked to improved lipid metabolism and weight loss. Recent studies have linked banaba leaves with anti-obesity activity, as they may inhibit adipogenesis and lipogenesis, which are the formation of fat cells and fat molecules.
Corosolic, gallic, and ellagic acid in banaba leaf extract inhibits enzymes that viruses use to take over human cells. These acids help prevent viral infection from pathogens such as HRV-4 (Human Rhinovirus) and HIV in cells. The antibacterial activity was shown to be possibly caused by the tannins and triterpenoids found in banaba.

Banaba leaves are rich in antioxidants, including ellagic acid, gallic acid, and corosolic acid. Ellagic acid helps to prevent oxidative stress, scavenge free radicals, and shield cells from damage. These compounds help neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and preventing cellular damage.

Recent studies suggest that banaba leaf extract may promote the programmed cell death of lung and liver cancer cells. It may protect against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus megaterium, and anti-human rhinovirus (HRV), which is a cause of the common cold. Banaba leaf extract is often used as a complementary treatment for diabetes. It can be found in various forms, including capsules, tablets, and teas. Regular consumption can help maintain stable blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Banaba leaf tea is a popular way to consume this herb. More research is needed to determine exact dosage recommendations.

Because Banaba leaves can lower blood sugar levels, there is a risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially in individuals who take other medications for diabetes. Some individuals may experience allergic reactions to Banaba leaves, such as skin rashes, itching, or swelling. High doses of Banaba leaf extract may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, including nausea, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Therefore, starting with a lower dose and gradually increasing it can help minimize these side effects.

Banaba Leaf Is A Blood Sugar Regulator

  • Helps regular blood sugar levels and improves insulin sensitivity.
  • Helps with weight management by improving lipid metabolism.
  • Improves cholesterol profiles and benefits heart function.
  • A powerhouse of antioxidants.

A Natural Remedy for Skin Issues ❤️

Have you heard of black currant seed oil?  Black currants (Ribes nigrum) have been called “the forbidden fruit” in the United States. The plant is native to northern parts of Europe and Asia. Its berries are very dark purple and contain seeds.

Black currant seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a type of omega-6 fatty acid that reduces inflammation in the body. The high GLA and anthocyanin content can help reduce joint or muscle pain. Research shows that GLA and linoleic acid help relieve dry eye symptoms. Black currants have been shown to have antiplatelet activities, which prevent blood clots, promote healthy blood flow, and improve cardiovascular health. Black currants also help detoxify the liver due to their rich antioxidant content, such as anthocyanins.

The most significant nutrient is vitamin C. In fact, one cup of blackcurrants carries almost three times more vitamin C than an orange. In addition to vitamin C, blackcurrants also contain other antioxidants, including anthocyanins, which help strengthen the immune system. Blackcurrant seed oil is rich in both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that reduce joint inflammation. The high concentration of GLA makes black currant seed oil an excellent skin nourisher, which helps lock in hydration, improve the skin texture, and reduce dryness. Black currant seed oil is rich in flavonoids, which have potent antioxidant properties. These flavonoids help slow down the aging process and reduce the harmful effects of UV radiation. Phenolic compounds are also abundant in the black currant seed oil. These compounds exhibit anti-inflammatory effects that reduce redness, swelling, and irritation of the skin. Anthocyanins in the black currant seed oil play a crucial role in skin health; they increase collagen production, enhance elastin synthesis, and promote the production of hyaluronic acid in the skin.

Black currant seed oil is a rich source of phytochemicals, which are compounds produced by plants to protect them from bacteria and other invaders. These phytochemicals possess potent antimicrobial properties that can help prevent skin blemishes and promote a healthy skin microbiome.

The high content of vitamin C in the black currant seed oil helps brighten the complexion of the skin and promote a more even skin tone. Vitamin C interferes with the production of melanin, which is a pigment responsible for the age spots on the skin, Vitamin C helps reduce age spots prevent the formation of new spots.

Black currant seed oil is a natural remedy for eczema, also known as dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. Eczema may be related to a deficiency in essential fatty acids. Black currant seed oil is high in gamma-linolenic acid, which has been shown to reduce inflammation associated with eczema. Evidence suggests that black currant seed oil is effective in treating eczema; it can also be beneficial for psoriasis. For eczema, take about 5 drops of black currant seed oil and rub it between your hands to warm it up. Apply it to your skin and repeat as necessary.

You can incorporate this versatile oil into your favorite moisturizer or apply it directly to your skin after a shower for its amazing benefits. This oil provides antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties to rejuvenate your skin and boost your skin health. It can also be taken internally to boost your immunity, reduce inflammation, relieve joint pain, and improve heart function. The standard recommendations for taking the oil range from 2,000 to 5,000 mg per day.

In summary:

Black Currant Seed Oil Is A Skin Rejuvenator

A New Treatment for Cancer ❤️

Hyperthermia is emerging as a promising cancer treatment for many types of cancers. It involves heating tissues to temperatures up to 113°F (45°C) to kill cancer cells while leaving healthy cells relatively safe. The history of using heat to treat cancer dates back to the 1850s when surgeons William B. Coley and Carl D.W. Busch observed that fevers were associated with the regression of tumors.

One key difference is that tumor tissues have lower oxygen levels than normal tissues, which makes them more vulnerable to heat. When the body or a specific area is heated during hyperthermia treatment, normal cells can withstand the increased temperature due to the well-organized circulatory system to distributes the heat. Cancer cells, on the other hand, have challenges in regulating their temperature effectively with their chaotic blood vessel network. Very high temperatures can not only kill cancer cells, but also can injure or kill normal cells and tissues. This is why hyperthermia must be carefully controlled and should be performed by medical professionals who are experienced in this field.

Local hyperthermia is used to heat a small area, like a tumor. The higher the temperature and duration of exposure, the greater the effect on the target tissues. Radio waves, microwaves, ultrasound waves, and other forms of energy can be used to heat the area. When ultrasound is used, the technique is called high-intensity focused ultrasound, or HIFU, or focused ultrasound. The heat can be applied in different ways, for example, high-energy waves are aimed at a tumor near the body surface from a machine outside the body. A thin needle or probe is put right into the tumor, and the tip of the probe releases energy that heats the tissue surrounding it. Local hyperthermia can cause pain at the site; it may cause infection, bleeding, blood clots, swelling, burns, blistering, and damage to the skin, muscles, and nerves near the treated area.

One approach is called regional perfusion or isolation perfusion, so the blood supply to a part of the body is isolated from the rest of the circulation, and this blood is pumped into a heating device and then pumped back into the area to heat it. This technique is often used in the treatment of certain cancers in the arms or legs, such as sarcomas and melanomas. Another approach to regional hyperthermia is deep tissue hyperthermia. This treatment uses devices that are placed on the surface of the organ or body cavity and produce high-energy waves directed at a certain area to heat that area.

Whole-body heating is used to raise the body temperature by using heating blankets, saunas, or thermal chambers. The body temperature may be raised as if the individual had a fever, which is sometimes called fever-range whole-body hyperthermia. Studies suggest that this may cause certain immune cells to become more active for the next few hours and raise the levels of cell-killing compounds in the blood. Some researchers suggest raising the body temperature higher, around 107°F, for short periods.

The primary benefit of hyperthermia is its ability to increase oxidative stress within the tumor, which is one of the most effective ways to kill cancer cells. Hyperthermia can achieve this effect without the side effects associated with those aggressive treatments, such as radiation and chemotherapy. The oxidative stress induced by hyperthermia can last for weeks after a single treatment, which continues to stress cancer cells over time. Hyperthermia can be used synergistically with other therapies like high-dose vitamin C therapy. It can make tumors more susceptible to treatments. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, but at very high doses and in the presence of oxygen, which hyperthermia helps provide, it becomes an oxidant capable of killing cancer cells. Another amazing benefit of hyperthermia is its strong immune-stimulating effect by boosting the body’s natural defense system to fight against cancer cells. Hyperthermia also supports detoxification through sweat, which can help eliminate toxins from the body. All these benefits make hyperthermia a valuable component of integrative cancer treatment.

Here is the summary of hyperthermia treatment benefits for fighting against cancer:

·        Improves survival in recurrent or hard-to-treat cancers.

·        Supports the detoxification process of the body.

·        Provides long-lasting effects to combat cancer cells.

·        Makes cancer cells vulnerable while preserving surrounding healthy tissue.

·        Improves other cancer treatments and makes them more effective.

·        Minimizes damage to nearby tissues and only treats the tumors.

·        Boosts immunity due to its strong immune-stimulating effect.

The Best Form of Vitamin E?

Annatto is a type of food coloring made from the seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa orellana). Did you know that about 70% of natural food colors are derived from it? Annatto is also used as a flavoring agent that is best described as nutty and peppery. Annatto has been used in arts and medicine for a long time. Other names include achiote, achiotillo, bija, urucum, and atsuete. Its color comes from the pigment called carotenoids, which are in the outer layer of the seeds and many other fruits and vegetables, such as carrots and tomatoes.

Annatto contains many plant-based compounds with antioxidant properties, including carotenoids, terpenoids, flavonoids, and tocotrienols. According to studies, annatto extracts inhibit the growth of various bacteria and fungi. One study showed that pork patties that were treated with annatto powder had less microbial growth than untreated patties after 14 days in storage. Annatto also demonstrates potential anti-cancer properties due to its compounds, such as carotenoids bixin, norbixin, and tocotrienols, which is a type of vitamin E. Annatto is high in carotenoids, which benefit eye health. The seeds contain many beneficial active ingredients that help reduce free radicals, fight pathogens, lower cholesterol, improve bone health, etc. Tocotrienols represent half of the family of vitamin E compounds; they are less commonly found in foods and supplements. Studies have shown that tocotrienols are more potent than tocopherols in neutralizing free radicals and protecting cells and organelles from oxidative damage. Tocotrienols reduce cholesterol synthesis by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme and improving lipid profiles. Annatto tocotrienols also improve skin elasticity and hair strength; they boost the immune system by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.

Tocotrienols have also been shown to prevent the rapid growth of cancer cells. Annatto tocotrienol provides many health benefits, including supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis, reducing hyperpigmentation, repairing skin damage, healing wounds, and preventing skin cancer. Tocotrienol has inflammation-modulating properties in the liver and adipose tissue, which help improve lipid profile, reduce inflammation, and support glucose homeostasis.
Amazing Health Benefits of Annatto seeds include the following:

  • Benefits eye health due to its high beta-carotene content.
  • Provides antimicrobial properties for food safety.
  • Reduces inflammation due to its rich antioxidant profile.
  • Prevents skin damage against inflammation and UV radiation.
  • Improves cardiovascular health.
  • Boosts immunity and prevents cancers.

Annatto seeds can be ground up into a paste or powder and combined with other spices or seeds in various dishes, which makes it popular in many countries. Plus, its seeds can be used to make essential oils that are used in aromatherapy and have antimicrobial effects.

I hope you enjoy the information and have a wonderful weekend.

A Simple Remedy for Your Gut health ❤️

Lactobacillus Reuteri is one of the most prevalent naturally occurring gut bacteria in the animal kingdom. It plays an important protective role in many species of animals, including humans. L. Gerhard Reuter first identified Reuteri bacteria in the 1960s, a German microbiologist, after whom it was named. In humans, L. reuteri has been found to deliver protective benefits for the entire digestive tract, from the mouth to the stomach to the colon.

You often see that many commercially available probiotic products are labelled with CFU. In probiotics, CFU stands for Colony-Forming Units, and it refers to the number of active microorganisms in a probiotic supplement. It is a measurement of how many bacteria in the product are capable of multiplying and forming colonies when grown under the right conditions. This count indicates the potential number of live bacteria that will be introduced into the body.

Probiotics help to increase the diversity and number of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which can improve digestive function and overall gut health. Probiotic yogurt can contribute to gut health by introducing beneficial bacteria to the digestive system. These live microorganisms help balance the gut microbiome and provide various digestive and immune benefits.  Dr. William Davis and his popular book -"Super Gut" introduced probiotic yogurts that may help support weight loss, improve digestion and reduce bloating, lift mood, boost energy levels, promote healthy skin & hair, and boost immunity. Let’s talk about homemade probiotic yogurt recipes that are specifically designed for digestive health, especially to help relieve SIBO (small intestine bacteria overgrowth) symptoms such as gas, bloating, constipation/diarrhea, etc.

SIBO Yogurt Recipe One
Ingredients

  • Lactobacillus Reuteri: 10 tablets
  • Inulin powder: 2 tbsp.
  • Whole milk (for a thicker texture, half-and-half works best): 4 cups

Directions
Crush the L. reuteri tablets and mix them with the inulin powder in a bowl with a small amount of milk, dissolve and mix them well. Combine this mixture with the remaining milk and stir well. Pour the entire mixture into an Instant Pot or a yogurt maker machine. Set and maintain the temperature around 100°F (38°C) for 36 hours. Once it is ready, place it in the fridge and enjoy. You can make subsequent batches with two tablespoons of the prior batch.

SIBO Yogurt Recipe Two (Non-Dairy)
Ingredients

  • Coconut milk: 3 cans (400ml each)
  • Agar agar powder: 2 tsp.
  • L-Reuteri probiotic tablets (crushed): 3
  • Inulin powder: 2 tbsp.
  • Sugar: 1 tsp.
Be sure to choose a coconut milk that contains no gums such as guar gum, gellan gum, carrageenan, or other additives, just coconut milk. Coconut yogurt may separate into layers, which means cream at the top and coconut water at the bottom. With Agar in the mix, sometimes it will set into small fragments with a firm texture. You can blend it in a blender before adding the crushed probiotic tablets.

Instructions:
  • Pour coconut milk/cream into a large pot and sprinkle the agar powder into it and stir briefly.
  • Place the pot on a stove and heat to 180⁰F (82⁰C) and hold the temperature for 1-2 minutes. Stir with a whisk to ensure the agar doesn’t settle and stick to the bottom of the pot while heating.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool down.
  • In a small bowl, combine the crushed probiotic tablet, inulin powder, and sugar with a quarter cup of cooled coconut milk and stir to form a slurry, pour in the slurry and stir well.
  • Put the lid on the glass yogurt jar and place it into a yogurt maker. Ferment for 48 hours at 100 degrees F (38°C). Then it is ready, place it in the fridge and enjoy!
Depending on your preferences, these homemade yogurt recipes are easy to make and they work! Plus, they save you $$$ in the grocery stores, and you know what you put into your mouth, which is the most important.
