How to Use Footbath to Boost Your Health and DETOX?

Foot care is an essential part of self-care in the TCM. There are over 72,000 nerve endings in the feet, and each one corresponds to a different area of the body. No wonder the foot is called the second heart. You can see that your foot is like a small mirror to reflect your whole body, isn’t it amazing? Just like the hands and ears, foot care can bring you numerous health benefits. Soaking feet has been very popular in Asia for thousands of years. It promotes blood circulation, increases the energy flow in the body, and most importantly, it releases toxic energy from the body.

Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, is a naturally occurring mineral compound. You may be familiar with its use as a remedy for sore muscles, but Epsom salt offers so many benefits, especially when it comes to flushing out toxins. It acts as a toxin repellent, pushing and flushing toxins out of the cells. Studies have shown that oral absorption of magnesium is less efficient because it has to go through our digestive tract and liver before reaching the bloodstream. While absorption through the skin with bathing, magnesium can bypass our digestive system and allow a higher percentage to directly enter the bloodstream. With an Epsom salt bath or footbath, we not only receive the maximum detoxification benefits of magnesium but also receive many other health benefits, including easing muscle pain and reducing stress, etc.

Bentonite clay is a clay composed of ash from volcanoes. Similar clays have been used by different cultures around the world to remove harmful pathogens such as parasites and bind to toxins to remove them from the body. Bentonite clay’s detoxification power lies in its negative ionic charge and absorption abilities, which pull positively-charged toxins out of the body. Pesticides, heavy metals, and harmful bacteria are all positively charged and this surrenders them to the clay’s binding power. Along with binding to toxins, Bentonite clay also contains a wide range of minerals such as calcium, copper, iron, zinc, and potassium, which provide nutrients to your skin as you detox. You can combine Bentonite clay with Epsom salt in your footbath to maximize the detoxification result.

Baking soda is another kitchen product that can be used to detoxify the body. What is even better is that baking soda also has an alkalizing effect on the body. It has been used to wrap the body as an alternative treatment for cancer patients due to its alkalizing effect.
